FIT FRIDAY: LAGREE FITNESS + 30 DAY ABS CHALLENGE

Lagree Fitness

It’s Fit Friday guys and even though I have a lot of work to do at the moment, at least I was pretty hardcore in fitness pre-Charlie. One of my best friends, Anne, is a trainer at Studio Novo and Barry’s Bootcamp (which I will be discussing in a few weeks.) I was her first client ever about 4.5 years ago after my first baby and she whipped me in shape. If you live in Nashville you HAVE to go to one of her classes. This week I have asked her to do a guest posting about Lagree Fitness and then next week I will be discussing my experience with it. Keep reading to get a little insight from a Lagree fitness machine… look at her bod, you’ll get what I mean. Plus she has embarked on a fitness blog and I’m so excited to see all the things she has in store and you can bet on many more collaborations between us.

Also at the end I’ll be touching on a 30 day ab challenge I’m doing with a few other amazing bloggers.

Created by Sebastian Lagree in LA over a decade ago, Lagree Fitness is a patented method labeled by experts as one of the most innovative concepts in the fitness world today. Celebrities such as Sofia Vergara, Kim Kardashian, and Michelle Obama swear by the Lagree Fitness workout. I found this method to be extremely effective in keeping me in shape as I was a NFL Cheerleader for the Tennessee Titans.

Combining the five elements of fitness – Cardio, strength, endurance, body composition, and flexibility –  with resistance training, the results are seen much faster which less impact on your joints by targeting your slow twitch muscle fibers through continuous tension on a megareformer. People often think they are walking into Pilates. However, it’s not Pilates at all. It’s Lagree – one of the most revolutionary workouts that has ever been developed.

In 2014, having battled numerous injuries over the past five years I was looking for a low impact workout which could deliver results in a powerful way. This is when I found Lagree Fitness.

Lagree Fitness is one of the only methods I have found which truly makes you feel stronger from the inside out. There is no other type of method in the fitness world which delivers the same core work as Lagree.

In Nashville, you can find the Lagree Fitness method only taught at Studio Novo Nashville and Studio Novo Cool Springs. When you come to class, expect a 50 minute full body class with a Lagree certified instructor who designs their own class.

Not only am I a certified personal trainer, but I teach the Lagree Method as well. You can check out my classes on Mondays at Studio Novo Cool Springs at 9:30am + 12pm and Studio Novo Nashville on Thursday at 5:30pm. Your first class is free. For best results, I would encourage you to attend 3 times a week.

For more information, you can check out www.novonashville.com and www.lagreefitness.com as well as my website www.fitcitypearl.com.

Tips On Getting Your Baby To Sleep

Look at those little nuggets all snuggled their beds. You’d think they sleep like champs… but it wasn’t always this way? They say to new parents all the time, “sleep when they sleep.” But what if they don’t sleep? My first-born was an excellent sleeper, she could sleep anywhere. When Charlie was born, I just assumed she would be the same. I bought my fancy bassinet and placed it beside my bed, thinking she would just peacefully sleep beside me each night. Boy was I wrong. She didn’t even last 10 minutes every time.

We put Keatyn in her own bed at about 4 months old and sleep trained her. I had full intention on doing that with Charlie even earlier but then CNN released this article stating babies should sleep in their parents rooms until at least 6 months of age. If you know me at all, you know how crazy paranoid I am, so this was all I needed to hear to keep her in my room. Knowing I am an extremely light sleeper, I would’ve felt comfortable letting her sleep in my bed with me but knowing how sleep deprived I could be at times taking care of two and working, I opted to try out the Dockatot.  I promise you I’m not exaggerating but she won’t sleep in anything else.

She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old so we couldn’t put her in the rock and play etc, anything that pushed her hips together. We ended up getting the larger Dockatot too but now that her harness is off, she sleeps in the smaller one again. Her big sister has completely stolen the Grand Dockatot. She says it’s her bed and she just lounges in it and watches tv. She’s 5 years old and still fits in it so I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

A few tips on getting your baby to sleep that I could recommend to you from a lot of trial and error:

  • A good routine. I know it’s a lot harder with multiple children especially but if you set a good routine it will help you more than you know. Babies and children need routines and trust me, you’ll have it a lot easier if you set them early on. I make sure Charlie is fed every 3 hours until about 7/8 pm when I feed her the next to last bottle of the day. She naps at 10 am and 2 pm. We put her down in her dockatot around 7:30-8 after bath time. She wakes up between 11:30-12 and she gets her last bottle of the night. She sleeps till about 7 then we start our day.
  • Whitenoise. Get them used to sounds or you’re in for a world of chaos. I have found the perfect sound machine ever. The Sound Oasis Bluetooth machine is compact for travel and comes with a SD card with 12 pre-loaded sounds that are not only perfect for the babies but also for mom and dad to sleep better. Trust me you’ll love it.
  • Feed your baby right before you put him/her to sleep. Make sure their bellies are full and they will nap/sleep so much better and longer.

Summer Cocktail Party: A Quick Party Guide With Pier 1

This Summer Cocktail Party post is sponsored by free product by Pier 1 but as always all opinions are my own 🙂 Affiliate links are also included in this post. (Meaning I’ll be compensated if you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase.)

Hey Summer I see you and all the fun stuff you have planned. One of my favorite parts of spring/summer is enjoying my backyard with friends and family. The plus side this year is the fact that I finally caved and got patio furniture for my deck. I’ve had the Pier 1 Swingasan chairs for a couple years now and I absolutely love them to sit in and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee but it’s not practical to entertain. As soon as I received my new patio set, I ran to our local Pier 1 to browse their outdoor sale for decor.

Since I don’t have a formal dining area outside, I find it best to host small parties for my outside festivities. The perfect examples are Summer Cocktail Party, girls night, date night, play dates, etc. If I’m hosting large parties I’ll take it inside. Are your in-laws coming over or maybe a couple of your girlfriends for drinks and you don’t have time to do an elaborate set up? I’m gonna share a few quick tips and some items to have on hand to make it Pinterest worthy in a matter of minutes. I’m sharing some items I picked up from Pier 1 that you can either keep tucked away to throw out real quick when entertaining guests or keep out on your dining table for an easy transition to your outdoor setup.

I can’t even begin to tell you how obsessed I am with my new wine glasses. There’s a pretty good chance I will be drinking wine, champagne or just orange juice in the mornings out of my new cactus glass especially. And you can’t have an Summer Cocktail Party outdoors without this tropical food cover. No one wants bug interrupting their evening.

outdoor decor. dinner party ideas. how to decorate outdoor table. floral outdoor decoration.

The right touches can completely make the set up. I decided to go with bright colors because at the moment the biggest trends are palms, flamingos, cactus and pineapples etc. I picked some bold and bright colors that I can build on and use for the future. The Melamine dinnerware is perfect for outdoor entertaining because it’s extremely durable. I’m loving all of the fun colors available and they are plates m kids can use without me worrying. Also the Clarity stemware is shatter proof and practically indestructible look so sleek you would never even know they weren’t glass.

If you mix patterns and colors you can create more looks and shake it up for the next party too. I got an assortment of colors: pink, turquoise, green and florals and stripes. That way you can mix and match an assortment of colors without it being overkill. My favorite combos are these striped napkins with these pink napkins along with these gorgeous orchid napkin rings.

Also if you throw some fancy linens from your kitchen down, it’ll jazz it up extremely quick. I’m loving this floral runner and flamingo towel to add some depth to the furniture. You can move them back and forth from indoors and outdoors. The poms and fringe that are available at Pier 1 z   are the top trends right now and I am loving how fun they look with my patio set. These lamps give my outdoor setup more of a bohemian vibe. I keep them out when I’m outside but they’re too precious to keep out day-to-day.

Food: A few quick appetizers to throw together are chips & salsa, pretzels & hummus, veggies, cheese & olives and a meat tray. All of these things can be bought at the grocery store to have on hand for a quick get together. Anything fast is perfect and if you keep your pantry stocked, with these essential items you’ll be completely prepared for unannounced company. I got these cute little flamingo ice cube trays to make it a little more fancy. Just keep them your freezer and you’ll seem like you’re prepared.

I threw all of this together for a get together with my friend and her son in about 10-15 minutes, including food. It turned ut beautifully and I couldn’t be more pleased. I hope you guys enjoy this look and you can find it at Pier 1. Xoxo.

How To Make Mom Happy On Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is literally right around the corner and since I now consider myself an expert on this job, I thought I would share some gift ideas to get you some extra brownie points. This applies for your mommas and your wives (because fellas you know you HAVE to get your wives Mother’s Day gifts right?! They did carry your children for 9 months each and let’s not even discuss childbirth and sleepless nights) Every mom wants something different so I’m gonna attempt to touch all bases here.

Idea #1.

Personalized jewelry. One of my most favorite necklaces ever is my personalized signature necklaces. The coolest thing about Capsul’s signature necklace is you can have your name, mom or whatever you want it to say in your child’s handwriting. It comes in a 14″ or 16″ inc chain and in rose gold, silver or 14 karat gold. This is such a unique but lovely gift that you can enjoy for years to come. Fellas you will definitely win some brownie points with this one. Use my code “nashstyle” for 20% off your order.

Idea #2.

Statement bags. One thing about moms is we are always on the go so the loveliest gift idea would be a nice bag to at least cute while we do it. I love my designer bags like the next chick but there’s something about dropping a grand or more for a bag that makes me cringe. I just think of all of the things I could have bought with that money. Deux Lux makes such beautiful purses, weekenders and id cases etc. A few of my favorite prints are the Calistoga tote, the Bloom overnight bag, the Antigua train case (perfect for makeup or toiletries) and the Biscayne weekender. These 4 are my top 4 faves for summer and they come in various sizes and cost effective for all of the cute print you get to choose from.

Idea #3.

Chic Diaper Bag. With my first child I carried around a typical diaper bag but with the second, I knew better. It was way too heavy and it hurt my back and shoulders. Also I was consistently dropping it while trying to carry everything. I don’t travel anywhere without my Fawn Design diaper bag. It makes me feel less “mom” like and I love that about it. I wear it as a backpack but you can also wear it as a messenger bag. It is such a chic diaper bag that you can carry well after you “need” to. I am obsessed with the gold hardware on them. Both the inside and outside are very easy to clean. You can wipe with a damp cloth. There are a total of 10 pockets to store all your stuff along with a keychain hook for your keys. I have the grey and the brown.

Idea #4.

Gift Box.  I just got a gift box recently from Give Lovely and there are so many options you can play with for mom or just personalize your own. I got the Roses are Pink box which included:

  • Hearts Notepad
  • Salted Grapefruit Urban Candle
  • Champagne Bubbles + Bubbly Bears Sugarfina Candies
  • Sakura Blossom Perfume Oil
  • Coco Rose Body Polish
  • Gift Wrap and Handwritten Card

You can choose your price limit and shop from the comfort of your own bed with a gift that’s still completely personalized.

Idea #5.

Fun Knick knacks. A great idea for mom is to buy her something you know she wouldn’t buy herself. I am so in love with this eyelash mermaid pillow from Ankit in my filming room and think it would make such a fun gift. Who doesn’t like to play with mermaid pillows too? I could seriously do it all day.

Idea #6.

Traditionals. Basically you can’t go wrong with old faithful. Chocolate Covered Strawberries or Flowers. I’m never gonna be unhappy of I receive either one of these gifts. I could eat chocolate strawberries every day of the year. Or have your kids make mom a special note or picture from them. Husbands do something sweet and romantic, I promise it’ll go a lot further than some expensive purse. Well for someone like me it would.

Idea #7.

Me Time. I’m actually not kidding when I say I don’t care if I get one physical present for Mother’s Day. I have told my husband countless times that I would feel the most appreciated by just getting a day off. A day off from hearing the word mom 50 times, cleaning the house, feeding everyone. Give me a bath and a book. Two things I don’t see often nowadays. Let me take a nap or relax. Go sit outside by myself. Me time is so important and let’s face it, moms NEVER get that. We can’t even go to the bathroom without tiny humans following us in. So give mom a glass of champagne, draw her a bubble bath with a luxurious bath bomb and lovely soap and milk baths. Then shut the door and keep the kids out for a minimum of an hour 😉 I love giving my support to local companies so if you live in Nashville or even if you don’t they ship…but Cheap Chicks Soapery has some pretty amazing handmade products.

Idea #8.

Mommy and me jewelry. I love matching my girls but it’s hard to do that sometimes without looking super cheesy. A really cute idea from the kids could be some matching baubles.

Hope you guys got some great ideas from this post. Babe I hope you were reading 😉 And if you are momma wants yard work and her kitchen cabinets painted haha.

Tips on Staying Productive From A Busy Mom of Two: Erin Condren

If you follow along with my blog or social media at all you know how chaotic my life is. Not only did my husband and I both decide to venture into our own companies within the past year but we also added a baby to that mix. So now here I am, mom of two, trying to balance life. Clearly it can be done, moms do it every day. You just have to prioritize.

I was invited to an amazing event for Erin Condren a couple of weeks ago and learned so much about being organized and all the sweet goodies Erin Condren offers. (Plus we had some pretty amazing appetizers at one of my favorite places, Adele’s.) As a mother to two children under the age of 5, who runs all parts of my blog, YouTube channel and also my family (taking care of kids, cleaning, cooking, baths, the million activities Keatyn does after preschool), I need structure more in life more than ever. Now, I’m no expert by any means, I run around like a chicken with my head cut off 90% of the time but I am offering some tips on staying productive to help you get organized.

  1. First and foremost, make a schedule and a deadline for projects you want to tackle. 9 times out of 10 I’m gonna complete my task if I set a guideline for it because I’m now holding myself accountable instead if saying “Oh I’ll do that tomorrow”
  2. Prioritize what’s most important. Decide what needs to be tackled first and then go down the list.
  3. WRITE IT DOWN. Again, if I write it down I am definitely more likely to hold myself accountable.  I know there are so many apps you can download to stay organized and I have a lot of them. There’s just something about writing it down for me though. I’ve always been a list maker and it helps me get my day in order.
  4. Get a good planner. My Erin Condren Life Planner™ is literally saving me from being a train wreck. I customized it with not only my name but the prettiest floral cover. I’m also a pretty big fan of the cute stickers to use during my scheduling. Whenever you make plans for any event or need to keep track of tasks and errands, mark them in your planner. I also suggest color coding your planner to organize it even better. Otherwise it’ll all blend together and certain tasks won’t be set apart. Also take your planner with you wherever you go so you will remember to put any tasks or events in your schedule as soon as you find out.
  5. WORK. After you make the schedule and get it all delegated, GET IT DONE. The long you put it off and procrastinate just adds more to do on the following days in your schedule. Stick to your schedule and tackle those goals.

Also, BREATHE. Life is stressful, I get it. Try to live in the moment as much as possible. In the meantime, go to Erin Condren and look through all the amazing goodies she offers. The Life Planner™ is a game changer. You can get 15% off your purchase until 7/31/17 with code: GETSOCIAL15 Hope you guys enjoyed my tips on staying productive.

Kid Approved Non-Candy Easter Basket Ideas

Easter is one of my favorite holidays with children my home. I love all the bright colors, easter egg hunts and the thrill of the goodies the Easter bunny brings. I love going to church and talking about Jesus to my babies. The one part that bugs me as a parent is how most of what is marketed for Easter basket is sugar and candy. If your kids are anything like mine that makes you cringe. My daughter is a straight up sugar addict and I’ve been drastically trying to cut back for her. I mean she gets it honestly, I struggle daily on my addiction. This year I decided forget the candy filled easter baskets that go to waste. I’m doing something different this year. So I filled it… I mean the Easter bunny filled it with toys and things they need.

First off this year I used Pehr Design’s Pom “easter baskets” because it’s much more functional for regular use plus they are so cute as easter baskets. After we are done with Easter I can use them for storage in their rooms since I got them to match their bedrooms. Diving into Keatyn’s a little bit. Clearly you see I have to include troll blind bags. She has an obsession. Also my kid absolutely loves bath bombs. Seriously a kid after my heart. She must have seen me too many times because she wants a glass of sparkling juice, candles and a bath bomb when she bathes. Hahaha I’m not even kidding y’all. Anyway, I found this AMAZING store on Etsy who makes the most luxurious bath bombs but also they have surprise toys inside! I mean seriously what kid wouldn’t want these?! Plus they’re cheaper than Lush. I’m smitten from here on out. I want adult bath bombs with surprises in them.

I also got her a tool set from Baby Cubby because she always pretends to fix things around the house. She must have her daddy’s engineer brain. They also had these cool functional cups that hang on your fridge. I get so tired of finding cups all over our house.

This owl from Pawd Pets holds our iPad or cell phones for Keatyn with a magnet so she can play with it or watch movies and grip it better. Plus it looks super cute.

Can we talk about how cute this unicorn tumbler is from Twinkle Twinkle Little Jar? There’s a pretty good chance I might steal this from Keatyn. Unicorns and glitter…uh yes.

Here are a few of the things pictured above I got for Charlie:

Ok I’m so excited for the girls to see their Easter baskets, even though Charlie could care less at this point. Minus maybe one candy easter bunny, I think I found some really great candy substitutions. I love supporting all the small shops, so if you’re looking for something out of the box for easter or any holidays, check them out. Hope you guys are having a fabulous week! Xo

Fit Friday: Home Workouts

home workouts, workouts for busy moms, workouts you can do at home, post partum fitness

Before I found I was pregnant last April I had finally obtained the toned bod I had been working so hard for. It took months of hard work. I remember looking in the mirror once and seeing how muscular and toned my booty was, that I snapped a photo. I definitely do not feel that way anymore. I feel shame, insecurity and guilt. At first, my gym time slowly tapered off because I was so ill with my second pregnancy. Then I would skip weeks at a time. When my sickness started to ease off a bit, I asked my doctor if I could resume my crazy workouts to which she replied, “No you’ve taken too much time off, you can lift light weights and walk”

I felt defeated but still managed to go walk every now and then and lift light weights. The more time went on, I went to the gym less and less. I found myself making excuses. I ate like crap and honestly I’m not sure how I didn’t gain more weight than I did. After Charlie was born, I saw that I continued to make excuses about not getting fit again. So a couple of weeks ago, like I told you guys before, I made a vow to get back to where I was. I knew if I made a commitment publicly that I had no choice but to follow. I’m going to be honest and say it’s been a struggle. I still find myself making excuses and sneaking chocolate. It’s hard to reset your body and mind. This past week I do a few exercises right before I go to bed. I wanted to share one of my leg/butt at home workouts for you guys that Sheeva and I have integrated into my routine. Even if you can dedicate 20 minutes it helps. When I cook dinner, I dance. When I’m brushing my teeth I do kickbacks. When I shower or change my baby’s diaper I do deep squats. Nowhere near like I did pre-baby but anything helps.

Things you need:

1 Resistance Band

2 Dumb bells

Ankle Weights

Do each exercise for one minute. In between each set, do 30 seconds of cardio to get your heart rate up. (High knees, Running stairs, Jumping lunges, Jump rope etc.) Rest for 15 seconds.

  • Lunge walks with weights
  • Lunge walks with bands
  • Side lunges
  • Wall sits
  • Squat pulse
  • Glute Bridges with ankle weights (one leg at a time on stairs or a step)
  • Toe thumb squats
  • Calf raises with weights
  • Kickbacks with bands (donkey kicks)
  • Side raises with bands (Lift leg with band around ankles)

Side note: TJ Maxx has really really good pricing on exercise equipment. That’s where I get majority of mine. The more I get back in the game working out etc., I will share more of my daily routine with eating and working out. Hope you guys enjoy. Xoxo

Fit Friday Series: Starting Over

fit friday, getting fit after baby, clean eating, how to get pre-baby body back

Ok it’s about to get real y’all. I made a conscious decision last week to start this week fresh and get my pre-baby body back. I know it’s gonna take work and I’m determined to get my mind right. I was in health kick overdrive before I found out I was pregnant and maybe a few months in I continued that same good behavior. I was extremely ill during the majority of this pregnancy but I still managed to make it to the gym at least a couple of times a week and walk on incline and lift light weights…. then I tapered off. Sadly, I haven’t started back. Until now anyway. So I fully intended to start full force on Sunday and I did eat very well on Sunday. However, I get hit with a nasty stomach virus Monday morning and I still haven’t recovered so I haven’t been able to kick it in high gear yet. Starting today though I will be adding in my new way of life: exercise, clean eating, supplements, etc. I’m really excited to start this journey back to my cellulite free body. I can’t do this alone so I’m teaming up with my good friend and a bad ass trainer Sheeva Rouhanifard, one of the owners of Title Boxing in Green Hills and Cool Springs. We are starting this weekly series to help not only myself gain confidence by living a healthy life but to inspire others to take this same journey.

So how do you start?

Sheeva and I sat down and discussed my goals: eating cleaner, being stronger again, leaning out and toning up among other things. We took my measurements which I’m gonna share my progress with you guys weekly.

Waist: 30

Arm: 9

Hips: 37.5

Thigh: 20.5

The hardest part for me as a busy mother are A.) Finding time to workout B.) Clean Eating. Now I eat fairly healthy for the most part. I don’t eat fast food and pizza every day but I am not a woman with willpower when it comes to sweets and my favorite foods. I’m that person that will say “I’ve eaten so healthy today so I can indulge.” That’s fine when it’s maybe one day a week but when it’s every single night when your favorite shows are on, it becomes a problem. And that problem costs you your waistline. Just like Sheeva and I discussed, one of my main issues is gonna be me getting my eating under control. I’ll touch more on that later, but we have some awesome things to share on that later on. Since I’ve been sick, I haven’t been eating much the past few days so I haven’t been able to start. To start out each day I plan on making a smoothie or a protein shake. I’m excited to share my favorite products and recipes with you guys. Ideally I’m motivated by convenient and easy meals and snacks for us busy women because especially since I’m a mom to a new baby, I literally don’t have a free moment. I’m always trying to cram everything in.

I’m on a mission to find the best meal replacements, meal prep ideas and wellness bars and excited to show you guys my thoughts. I’m starting on LifeVantage this weekend and I’m very hopeful it will give me everything I need.

If y’all have any food prep ideas or recommendations, meal replacements etc please let me know. Xoxo.

A Few Tips To Ease Stress For Mommas

You guys know by now that I have a new baby and an almost 5 year old. If you have children too then you definitely feel my struggles of not having a moment to yourself or finding time to relax. As mothers and also just as women, we need to find the time to relax and enjoy the little pleasures in life. I know it’s hard to do because we always feel the need to get all the things done around our house etc. It’s especially hard when you’re a type-A person and just can’t learn to sit still. You HAVE to make time for you to do not only things that you enjoy but also activities that help put your mind at ease.

A few of my tricks I’ve learned to help put my mom brain at ease:

Read.

Read a good therapeutic book. I’m personally loving Hustle and Heart.” I’m joining up with Kail Lowry for her Virtual Book Tour in honor of her new book. Also, if you’re in the Baltimore area, you can meet Kail in person at her book signing March 25th at noon at John Hopkins University Barnes and Noble. Make sure you visit these other awesome posts from this virtual blog tour that are listed below. Kail discusses her life struggles growing up and as a mom. Her book is full of “motivational messages, personal advice and relatable experiences for those making their way through life’s challenging mix of joy and hardship.” Sometimes, you just need to know you’re not alone. It’s inspiring to read similar struggles of others to really process life. Check it out mommas.

Sweat It Out.

Go to a sauna, steam room or a Sweat House. The steam room or sauna always helps to clear my head. Sweating out the toxins gives you a profound sense of relaxation/release as your entire body starts to eliminate irritability along with helping your cramped muscles and nerves begin to dissipate. The far infrared sauna helps to reduce physical stress by boosting blood circulation. I personally love the Sweat House in Green Hills. I have never left there feeling less than extraordinary. If you live in the Nashville area and you haven’t been…do yourself a favor and GO!

Exercise.

Touching on the sweat it out… go to the gym. I know personally that running to the gym is my favorite way to decompress. Whether it be going for a run, hitting up a yoga class or boxing it out. All of these things increase your endorphins and help you release all of your built up tension. Exercise is not only good for your mind, it’s clearly good for your body so it’s a win win situation. Earn that summer bod. Also you better believe you’re gonna sleep like a champ. Exercise helps with concentration and anxiety so it is good for us ladies since we tend to stress a lot more than men.

Indulge.

Have a glass of wine and watch a new show on Netflix or a movie. I seriously look forward to my nightly glass of wine so I can wind down from my day. I put my kids to bed around 8, pour myself a glass of wine (actually I kindly ask my hubby to do so) and kick my feet up to watch my “shows.” Tonight it was Walking Dead and Big Little Lies. I sometimes think of all of the things I could get accomplished and I would be lying if I said I didn’t do the occasional load of laundry, dishes and food prep. (I told you I can’t sit still very well) However, I cherish that glass of wine every night, it has became like a savior to me. Oh and my tv shows, I’m an addict. I won’t quit them. Ever.

Bubble Bath.

Oh bubble baths…how I love thee. Actually I had one today for the first time in forever. Bubbles, epsom salt and champagne. I was in a state of euphoric bliss until my 4 year old walked in and started throwing toys in my bathtub wanting to play. With that being said, maybe wait until the kids go to bed. Have a glass of bubbly and light some candles. Here are my favorite bubble bath (so elegant) and candles.

Vitamin D

Get your booty outside. Speaking from someone who suffers from not only anxiety, but from a vitamin D deficiency, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s highly beneficial to your health to get some sun in your life. Don’t just trust me though, it’s medically proven y’all. Just make sure you wear sunscreen because no one has time for those pesky wrinkles. No sir.

Time With Your Girlfriends

Make time for your friends. I know what you’ll say because I say it too. “I’m tired or I don’t wanna get ready” Suck it up buttercup. You’ve been around tiny life sucking humans all day. I know you’re craving adult interaction like no other. So give the mail lady a break. You deserve a decent conversation and some grub, a movie or drinks with your girls. I have two kids, one is only 3 months old and I have already had like 4 girl nights. That’s unheard of I know, but you have to make time. You’ll thank me. Sometimes it’s just nice to get out of the house, put some makeup on and feel human again.

Date Night Out

Ok my last piece of advice is this: Go on a date with your husband/boyfriend. You HAVE to make time in your relationship after kids otherwise you’ll be like ghosts to each other. Passing each other in the halls, working on your computers at night side by side. I pretty much just explained my hubs and I day to day with our new baby but even then we dedicate time to each other by going on a date at least every 2-3 weeks. It’s a necessity. Get out of the house in your fancy new dress and remember why you made those babies to begin with. Love. Sometimes a night out with your partner can be all you need to forget the worries of the world.

I hope this gave you some ideas or at least helped you see most of us moms are a complete mess that need a mental time out here and there. Check out Kail’s book and also the great pages listed above. Xoxo.

3 Month Old Mermaids, Dealing With Hip Dysplasia & Birth Announcements

Birth announcements, mermaid birth announcements

Birth announcements, mermaid birth announcements

As of today my little mermaid is 3 months old. These past three months feel like they’ve flown by but also like they dragged on. That’s odd I know. Every day feels like it will never end when you have a newborn. You’re sleep deprived and it feels like it’s always gonna be this way. Then one day you wake up and your baby is 3 months old. It hits you out of nowhere. Plus my oldest turns 5 next month. Times flies y when you’re a parent.

Charlie was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 8 weeks old so the past 4 weeks have definitely been an adjustment. She was put in a Pavlik harness the day she was diagnosed. I’m not gonna lie and say it was easy. I even cried because no one wants to see their child impaired in the slightest. I’m aware things could be much worse but it’s hard enough being a mother to a newborn without facing any type of hardship. You ‘re sleep deprived, your body has been destroyed, you’re constantly feeding, changing and caring for your baby. The hardest part honestly is changing her diaper but I’ve learned to master it. I was also pretty sad I couldn’t put her in any of the cute outfits I had for her. She can only wear onesies under the harness because her feet and legs are covered with the braces. The good news is that she gets them off in about 3 weeks. It could’ve been so much worse if we caught it later. If you have a newborn, are pregnant or know someone with a newborn then please please make sure you use hip friendly products like Embe & Halo sleep swaddles and carrier such as Lille Baby and Ergo.

She’s such a happy baby. She smiles so much. She loves her big sister. She literally lights up when she walks in the room. I can’t wait to see that relationship build and grow. She is now starting to laugh and can follow me with her eyes. I was scared to have another child because I never knew my heart could grow like it has.

I’m a tad late to the game but I suppose that’s what happens when you have multiple kids. I just now received my birth announcements from Tiny Prints and they turned out spectacular. I love the option to feed in all of your addresses from Excel. I also ordered these cute personalized stamps of the kids to send out with our cards to friends and family. I mean look how cute these are. I also opted for scalloped edges and the pearl white shimmer. Currently you can get 40% off with code Candles and free shipping on orders over $49 with code freeship49 so if I were you, I would act on it quick!
