Hey Summer I see you and all the fun stuff you have planned. One of my favorite parts of spring/summer is enjoying my backyard with friends and family. The plus side this year is the fact that I finally caved and got patio furniture for my deck. I’ve had the Pier 1¬†Swingasan chairs for a couple years now and I absolutely love them to sit in and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee but it’s not practical to entertain. As soon as I received my new patio set, I ran to our local Pier 1 to browse their outdoor sale for decor.¬†

Since I don’t have a formal dining area outside, I find it best to host small parties for my outside festivities. The perfect examples are Summer Cocktail Party, girls night, date night, play dates, etc. If I’m hosting large parties I’ll take it inside. Are your in-laws coming over or maybe a couple of your girlfriends for drinks and you don’t have time to¬†do an elaborate set up? I’m gonna share a few quick tips and some items to have on hand to¬†make it Pinterest worthy in a matter of minutes. I’m sharing some items I picked up from Pier 1 that you can¬†either keep tucked away to throw out real quick when entertaining guests or keep out on your dining table for an easy transition to your outdoor setup.

I can’t even begin to tell you how obsessed I am with my new wine glasses. There’s a pretty good chance I will be drinking wine, champagne or just orange juice in the mornings out of my new cactus glass especially.¬†And you can’t have an Summer Cocktail Party¬†outdoors¬†without this tropical food cover. No one wants bug interrupting their evening.

The right touches can completely make the set up. I decided to go with bright colors because at the moment the biggest trends are palms, flamingos, cactus and pineapples etc. I picked some bold and bright colors that I can build on and use for the future. The Melamine dinnerware is perfect for outdoor entertaining because it’s extremely durable. I’m loving all of the fun colors available and they are plates m kids can use without me worrying. Also the Clarity stemware is shatter proof and practically indestructible¬†look so sleek you would never even know they weren’t glass.

If you mix patterns and colors you can create more looks and shake it up for the next party too. I got an assortment of colors: pink, turquoise, green and florals and stripes. That way you can mix and match an assortment of colors without it being overkill. My favorite combos are these striped napkins with these pink napkins along with these gorgeous orchid napkin rings.

Also if you throw some fancy linens from your kitchen down, it’ll jazz it up extremely quick. I’m loving this floral runner and flamingo towel to add some depth to the furniture. You can move them back and forth from indoors and outdoors. The poms and fringe that are available at Pier 1 z ¬† are the top trends right now and I am loving how fun they look with¬†my patio set. These lamps give my outdoor setup more of a bohemian vibe. I keep them out when I’m outside but they’re too precious to keep out day-to-day.

Food: A few quick appetizers to throw together are chips & salsa, pretzels & hummus, veggies, cheese & olives and a meat tray. All of these things can be bought at the grocery store to have on hand for a quick get together. Anything fast is perfect and if you keep your pantry stocked, with these essential items you’ll be completely prepared for unannounced company. I got these cute little flamingo ice cube trays to make it a little more fancy. Just keep them your freezer and you’ll seem like you’re prepared.

I threw all of this together for a get together with my friend and her son in about 10-15 minutes, including food. It turned ut beautifully and I couldn’t be more pleased. I hope you guys enjoy this look and you can find it at Pier 1. Xoxo.

My Rustic Kitchen With A Glam Twist

Disclaimer: I was gifted products by Safavieh Furniture but this post is written 100% with my opinions and views.

We moved into our house two years ago. We still haven’t been able to decorate as we want to fully so we are slowly doing room by room. The year we bought the house we had just gotten married so we had so many expenses we couldn’t afford to start remodeling right away. Our home has amazing bones but it has definitely been a fixer upper. We put at least 30-40K in within the first two weeks of moving in to update it. It was¬†purchased in a short sale so the previous owners hadn’t been in the house for so long, it was really unkept.

There are still a few things left in the kitchen I wanna do. Mainly the backsplash along the counters and I want to paint our kitchen cabinets. (Gonna do a post on that too because I am gonna paint them myself and do my own backsplash)

I knew I wanted a rustic kitchen from the get go. Our dining room is very formal and glam so I needed to warm up the kitchen. I’m a very eclectic person when it comes to designing. I don’t like things to match and I like to have a little of everything. For example, my kitchen is rustic, my living area is kinda bohemian and my dining room is very glam. To pull the rustic look for the kitchen, I wanted a farmhouse table. I had a vision in my head of a farmhouse table with benches and these big tufted linen chairs on the end to tie it in with the rest of my home.

I had the benches built locally and I plan on staining them a deeper color. I just needed to find the perfect chairs to fit my vision. I hate when you have a vision in mind but it doesn’t turn out like you envisioned. Luckily, I found these reasonable chairs at Safavieh. I received them in the mail and they were super easy to put together. (It’s just the legs that need to be attached) I have sat in them daily and I’m so obsessed. The tufted chairs are¬†a taupe color with gold studs along the back. They fit perfectly with the table. The legs are an espresso color that I intend to stain the benches.

Mini mermaid cupcakes by Jessica’s Cupcakes in Nashville, TN
These seahorse bookends are from Kirklands and my friend made the vases with aqua sand.

These mermaid cookies by Whimsy (located in Memphis) were absolutely stunning.
I love the colors of these tassels. So soft and elegant. And who doesn’t love a BBQ & taco set up. My friends know food is one of my true loves. (Catered by Corky’s BBQ in Nashville)

So if you know me at all, you know I’m obsessed with mermaids and pretty much identity as a land mermaid. (I wish I were kidding lol) As soon as I found out I was having another girl, I knew I was going to decorate her room in a boho mermaid theme. (Sharing my nursery reveal with you guys so soon!) When one of my best friends Jessica reached out to me about wanting to throw me a shower, I told her about my nursery theme. She completely embraced that and incorporated it like a baller in the baby shower,

I loved it soooo much. The simplest details like the fish netting with seashells and cupcakes scattered all over it were so beautiful. I wanted to share the beautiful details with you guys and if you have any questions about where anything came from, please reach out. I thought it would be nice to share the ideas if you or anyone you know is planning a boho mermaid themed party.

My beautiful grandmother and step-mom.
Some of the lovely ladies who attended my shower. These girls have my heart.
So thankful to have these ladies in my life that took so much time to plan the perfect baby shower for me. I love you all.
