Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably noticed the ladies wearing off-shouldered tops pretty much everywhere. Brunch, check. Date night, check. Running errands, check. Bar, check. They’re everywhere. I don’t hate it either. Matter of fact I love it. Please, please stay a few more seasons at least. I love the different vibes of OTS tops. There are so many options: flirty & feminine, body con, OTS bodysuits, statement pieces. Plus it flatters such a wide range of body types and is very simply paired with other statement trends. That’s why I’m wanting to share my favorite 15 off the shoulder tops under $50. (Favorite stores include ASOS, VICI, Forever 21 & Nordstrom.)

The OTS top or Bardot as I’ve seen it at many retailers. (I like that, make me wanna wear it even more. Who doesn’t love Bridget!) The flattering neckline can be found in so many prints, colors and styles. It’s basically impossible to mess it up. A few tips for wearing off the shoulder tops though:

  • Wear a strapless bra or pasties. You simply cannot pull this off well with any other type of bra.
  • Wear statement pieces as earrings or necklaces. The hassle and hoop trend work well with OTS tops. This is your chance to get your jewelry noticed. Your pieces won’t get lost in the outfit. My picks would be duster earrings like at Bauble Bar currently like THESE or THESE. They have some really fun earrings for summer. With necklaces, I would do a choker or a bandana.
  • Dust some bronzer and highlighter over your collarbone to really make it pop. It’s your time to shine. Literally. Get it? haha

I really feel as if the sexiness of shoulders are completely underrated but it’s perfect way to show a little sex appeal but still look classy and feminine. I’m sharing a slideshow below of my favorite 15 off the shoulder tops under $50. You know me, I love a good deal. Check it out y’all. Xo.

Tips On Getting Your Baby To Sleep

Look at those little nuggets all snuggled their beds. You’d think they sleep like champs… but it wasn’t always this way? They say to new parents all the time, “sleep when they sleep.” But what if they don’t sleep? My first-born was an excellent sleeper, she could sleep anywhere. When Charlie was born, I just assumed she would be the same. I bought my fancy bassinet and placed it beside my bed, thinking she would just peacefully sleep beside me each night. Boy was I wrong. She didn’t even last 10 minutes every time.

We put Keatyn in her own bed at about 4 months old and sleep trained her. I had full intention on doing that with Charlie even earlier but then CNN released this article stating babies should sleep in their parents rooms until at least 6 months of age. If you know me at all, you know how crazy paranoid I am, so this was all I needed to hear to keep her in my room. Knowing I am an extremely light sleeper, I would’ve felt comfortable letting her sleep in my bed with me but knowing how sleep deprived I could be at times taking care of two and working, I opted to try out the Dockatot.  I promise you I’m not exaggerating but she won’t sleep in anything else.

She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old so we couldn’t put her in the rock and play etc, anything that pushed her hips together. We ended up getting the larger Dockatot too but now that her harness is off, she sleeps in the smaller one again. Her big sister has completely stolen the Grand Dockatot. She says it’s her bed and she just lounges in it and watches tv. She’s 5 years old and still fits in it so I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

A few tips on getting your baby to sleep that I could recommend to you from a lot of trial and error:

  • A good routine. I know it’s a lot harder with multiple children especially but if you set a good routine it will help you more than you know. Babies and children need routines and trust me, you’ll have it a lot easier if you set them early on. I make sure Charlie is fed every 3 hours until about 7/8 pm when I feed her the next to last bottle of the day. She naps at 10 am and 2 pm. We put her down in her dockatot around 7:30-8 after bath time. She wakes up between 11:30-12 and she gets her last bottle of the night. She sleeps till about 7 then we start our day.
  • Whitenoise. Get them used to sounds or you’re in for a world of chaos. I have found the perfect sound machine ever. The Sound Oasis Bluetooth machine is compact for travel and comes with a SD card with 12 pre-loaded sounds that are not only perfect for the babies but also for mom and dad to sleep better. Trust me you’ll love it.
  • Feed your baby right before you put him/her to sleep. Make sure their bellies are full and they will nap/sleep so much better and longer.

Summer Cocktail Party: A Quick Party Guide With Pier 1

This Summer Cocktail Party post is sponsored by free product by Pier 1 but as always all opinions are my own 🙂 Affiliate links are also included in this post. (Meaning I’ll be compensated if you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase.)

Hey Summer I see you and all the fun stuff you have planned. One of my favorite parts of spring/summer is enjoying my backyard with friends and family. The plus side this year is the fact that I finally caved and got patio furniture for my deck. I’ve had the Pier 1 Swingasan chairs for a couple years now and I absolutely love them to sit in and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee but it’s not practical to entertain. As soon as I received my new patio set, I ran to our local Pier 1 to browse their outdoor sale for decor.

Since I don’t have a formal dining area outside, I find it best to host small parties for my outside festivities. The perfect examples are Summer Cocktail Party, girls night, date night, play dates, etc. If I’m hosting large parties I’ll take it inside. Are your in-laws coming over or maybe a couple of your girlfriends for drinks and you don’t have time to do an elaborate set up? I’m gonna share a few quick tips and some items to have on hand to make it Pinterest worthy in a matter of minutes. I’m sharing some items I picked up from Pier 1 that you can either keep tucked away to throw out real quick when entertaining guests or keep out on your dining table for an easy transition to your outdoor setup.

I can’t even begin to tell you how obsessed I am with my new wine glasses. There’s a pretty good chance I will be drinking wine, champagne or just orange juice in the mornings out of my new cactus glass especially. And you can’t have an Summer Cocktail Party outdoors without this tropical food cover. No one wants bug interrupting their evening.

outdoor decor. dinner party ideas. how to decorate outdoor table. floral outdoor decoration.

The right touches can completely make the set up. I decided to go with bright colors because at the moment the biggest trends are palms, flamingos, cactus and pineapples etc. I picked some bold and bright colors that I can build on and use for the future. The Melamine dinnerware is perfect for outdoor entertaining because it’s extremely durable. I’m loving all of the fun colors available and they are plates m kids can use without me worrying. Also the Clarity stemware is shatter proof and practically indestructible look so sleek you would never even know they weren’t glass.

If you mix patterns and colors you can create more looks and shake it up for the next party too. I got an assortment of colors: pink, turquoise, green and florals and stripes. That way you can mix and match an assortment of colors without it being overkill. My favorite combos are these striped napkins with these pink napkins along with these gorgeous orchid napkin rings.

Also if you throw some fancy linens from your kitchen down, it’ll jazz it up extremely quick. I’m loving this floral runner and flamingo towel to add some depth to the furniture. You can move them back and forth from indoors and outdoors. The poms and fringe that are available at Pier 1 z   are the top trends right now and I am loving how fun they look with my patio set. These lamps give my outdoor setup more of a bohemian vibe. I keep them out when I’m outside but they’re too precious to keep out day-to-day.

Food: A few quick appetizers to throw together are chips & salsa, pretzels & hummus, veggies, cheese & olives and a meat tray. All of these things can be bought at the grocery store to have on hand for a quick get together. Anything fast is perfect and if you keep your pantry stocked, with these essential items you’ll be completely prepared for unannounced company. I got these cute little flamingo ice cube trays to make it a little more fancy. Just keep them your freezer and you’ll seem like you’re prepared.

I threw all of this together for a get together with my friend and her son in about 10-15 minutes, including food. It turned ut beautifully and I couldn’t be more pleased. I hope you guys enjoy this look and you can find it at Pier 1. Xoxo.

How To Make Mom Happy On Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is literally right around the corner and since I now consider myself an expert on this job, I thought I would share some gift ideas to get you some extra brownie points. This applies for your mommas and your wives (because fellas you know you HAVE to get your wives Mother’s Day gifts right?! They did carry your children for 9 months each and let’s not even discuss childbirth and sleepless nights) Every mom wants something different so I’m gonna attempt to touch all bases here.

Idea #1.

Personalized jewelry. One of my most favorite necklaces ever is my personalized signature necklaces. The coolest thing about Capsul’s signature necklace is you can have your name, mom or whatever you want it to say in your child’s handwriting. It comes in a 14″ or 16″ inc chain and in rose gold, silver or 14 karat gold. This is such a unique but lovely gift that you can enjoy for years to come. Fellas you will definitely win some brownie points with this one. Use my code “nashstyle” for 20% off your order.

Idea #2.

Statement bags. One thing about moms is we are always on the go so the loveliest gift idea would be a nice bag to at least cute while we do it. I love my designer bags like the next chick but there’s something about dropping a grand or more for a bag that makes me cringe. I just think of all of the things I could have bought with that money. Deux Lux makes such beautiful purses, weekenders and id cases etc. A few of my favorite prints are the Calistoga tote, the Bloom overnight bag, the Antigua train case (perfect for makeup or toiletries) and the Biscayne weekender. These 4 are my top 4 faves for summer and they come in various sizes and cost effective for all of the cute print you get to choose from.

Idea #3.

Chic Diaper Bag. With my first child I carried around a typical diaper bag but with the second, I knew better. It was way too heavy and it hurt my back and shoulders. Also I was consistently dropping it while trying to carry everything. I don’t travel anywhere without my Fawn Design diaper bag. It makes me feel less “mom” like and I love that about it. I wear it as a backpack but you can also wear it as a messenger bag. It is such a chic diaper bag that you can carry well after you “need” to. I am obsessed with the gold hardware on them. Both the inside and outside are very easy to clean. You can wipe with a damp cloth. There are a total of 10 pockets to store all your stuff along with a keychain hook for your keys. I have the grey and the brown.

Idea #4.

Gift Box.  I just got a gift box recently from Give Lovely and there are so many options you can play with for mom or just personalize your own. I got the Roses are Pink box which included:

  • Hearts Notepad
  • Salted Grapefruit Urban Candle
  • Champagne Bubbles + Bubbly Bears Sugarfina Candies
  • Sakura Blossom Perfume Oil
  • Coco Rose Body Polish
  • Gift Wrap and Handwritten Card

You can choose your price limit and shop from the comfort of your own bed with a gift that’s still completely personalized.

Idea #5.

Fun Knick knacks. A great idea for mom is to buy her something you know she wouldn’t buy herself. I am so in love with this eyelash mermaid pillow from Ankit in my filming room and think it would make such a fun gift. Who doesn’t like to play with mermaid pillows too? I could seriously do it all day.

Idea #6.

Traditionals. Basically you can’t go wrong with old faithful. Chocolate Covered Strawberries or Flowers. I’m never gonna be unhappy of I receive either one of these gifts. I could eat chocolate strawberries every day of the year. Or have your kids make mom a special note or picture from them. Husbands do something sweet and romantic, I promise it’ll go a lot further than some expensive purse. Well for someone like me it would.

Idea #7.

Me Time. I’m actually not kidding when I say I don’t care if I get one physical present for Mother’s Day. I have told my husband countless times that I would feel the most appreciated by just getting a day off. A day off from hearing the word mom 50 times, cleaning the house, feeding everyone. Give me a bath and a book. Two things I don’t see often nowadays. Let me take a nap or relax. Go sit outside by myself. Me time is so important and let’s face it, moms NEVER get that. We can’t even go to the bathroom without tiny humans following us in. So give mom a glass of champagne, draw her a bubble bath with a luxurious bath bomb and lovely soap and milk baths. Then shut the door and keep the kids out for a minimum of an hour 😉 I love giving my support to local companies so if you live in Nashville or even if you don’t they ship…but Cheap Chicks Soapery has some pretty amazing handmade products.

Idea #8.

Mommy and me jewelry. I love matching my girls but it’s hard to do that sometimes without looking super cheesy. A really cute idea from the kids could be some matching baubles.

Hope you guys got some great ideas from this post. Babe I hope you were reading 😉 And if you are momma wants yard work and her kitchen cabinets painted haha.

Summer is approaching and you know what that means? Rompers and fun dresses. That is pretty much one of the only parts I enjoy about summer because let’s face it… it gets hot as hades. Well here in Nashville it does anyway and I can only wear dress and rompers.

Not even kidding when I wore this dress from Tobi, I received so many compliments. The back on it is so sexy but classy. I don’t typically wear grey dresses but this one jumped out at me. I paired it with my new Rebecca Minkoff slides at ShopBop to give it a bit of edge. By the way, they are currently 30% off!!! So you’re getting them cheaper than I did. So I’m happy for you but also super jealous because I love them so much. So after pairing this gorgeous dress with an edgier shoe, I decided to balance it with a feminine bag. This Rebecca Minkoff bag is my new ring/summer statement bag. I love the blush tone because it goes with everything.

Bell sleeves are still going strong and my inner hippie is digging it. It just makes me wanna spin in circles. This one is so soft and airy, I could definitely rock it in summer. Once again my new bag went perfectly with it. I’m also loving this airy dress for summer too.

The pollen is so bad right now in Nashville that I’m fighting a nasty cold. I can’t breathe. I’m hoping it gets better soon because I missed out on girl’s night tonight and everything. So on that note, I’m headed to bed to try and feel better. Xoxo.

I love casual wear. The truth is, I’m a mom and I spend so much of my time running around chasing these kids. As much as I love fashion, I’ve gotta stay practical for my day-to-day life. While I live in yoga pants for the most part day-to-day, some days I just wanna feel like a decent human and wear something cute. Have you ever tried to lug around two kids in a dress though? Not happening. This adorable outfit makes me feel put together but is still functional for my daily life.

These pom shoes from Target are an amazing dupe for these Steve Madden shoes. I really stepped out of my comfort zone with these shoes but I’m so glad I did. They are cute and unique. Definitely look more expensive than they are.

Also, boyfriend/girlfriend jeans typically scare me because I always thought they would look sloppy on me but I found these jeans at Express and they are now my go to jeans. You can dress them up with heels or rock them with some cute sneakers for a more casual look. Oh and I got the comfiest t-shirt ever from Express too. I sized up for a baggy feel.

On another note, I’m so addicted to the Leftovers right now. I’ve watched 2 seasons in the past week. I get so emotionally invested in my tv shows and can’t stop once I get started. I thought I wouldn’t like this show but I’m pretty into it. It could also be because Justin Theroux is a dream. Jennifer Anniston you are a lucky woman. Good lawd.

And guys!!! I just recorded a few videos on my YouTube that I’m pretty excited to share so I hope you follow along with me there. I love talking about makeup, sincere, fashion and life on there. Xoxo.

Thought I’d give a little life update for the few of you that might care haha. Things have been so hectic the past few weeks I feel like I can’t come up for air. Between easter, the blog, social events and Keatyn and Matt’s birthdays, it’s been pretty hectic. I’m not complaining, all good things but I’ve just been slammed. Thankfully it’s starting to slow down a bit.

Ok enough of that. It’s full on Spring in Tennessee and the temperatures are blaring. Which means it’s time to bust out the spring faves. Floral is such a hot trend right now and it is everywhere. One of my favorite floral trends right now other than the embroidered trend is the Poppy print (it was also a hot trend in 2013). It’s so vibrant and I’m obsessed. I even bought baby towels and bibs in poppy print for Charlie to match. I paired this dress with a black braille but if you’re feeling a bit riskier then ditch it. It looks so much cuter without one. I’ve also linked some other poppy prints below 🙂 Hope you guys have a great week. Xoxo.

Ok let’s talk about something that is extremely important for your relationship, your marriage. Date night. If you can swing it my personal advice is to try for at least 2 a month. I also try to make date nights at home after the kids go to bed but let’s be honest, you’re probably gonna end up in your sweatpants and a messy bun. You deserve to get dolled up and feel pretty. There’s something about getting ready for a night out (even if it’s just dinner) that makes you feel like a human.

It’s so easy to lose yourself in a relationship and get in a rut of Netflix and take out. Add kids to the mix and it gets even worse. You get so caught up taking care of your family, you no longer concentrate on yourself. I feel so bad for my husband when he comes home because he gets greeted at the door with yoga pants, a baseball hat and gets handed a child.

So with that being said, I’m sharing a date night look for you (details above) that’s super easy. All I did here was put on light makeup with a statement lip, put on a sexy fitted dress (under $25) and crimp my hair with this 3 barrel iron. I also had this trench, which was by the way under $25, to throw on if it got cold out. It’s so easy to style your hair like this to make it wavy hair. It’s supposed to be messy so you can do thick pieces of hair and also just a little to make it uneven. I finish with hairspray and texture spray.

Hope you guys enjoy this easy date night look & wavy hair and make a reservation ASAP.

6 Buzzed About Skin Care Products That You NEED Right Now

First things first let’s talk about the fact that I’m no longer breastfeeding and can actually do some stuff to my skin. I just had to share that with you guys because that’s the only positive thing about it right now. I felt so disgusting for so long because my skin was so gross and cruddy. I absolutely love trying and playing with different products. So I’ve tried and rounded up some products that are HOT right now that actually live up to the hype.

  1. Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial

skin care faves, how to get beautiful skin, top skincare needs

The other day I went to Sephora to use my VIB discount code. I asked the girl what is new and what should I try? She asked if I liked skin care. DUHHHH I live for skin care. So she starts telling me about this Drunk Elephant TLC facial. She pulls another associate over and they both start raving over it. Then I go to the from to pay and the clerk pulls it out of my bag and says “This stuff is amazing.” Ok ok I get it, I’m sold. I’ll admit it tingles a bit when you first put it on but that strangely tells me it’s working. My skin looked so fresh and amazing and I’ve only tried it once. I can’t imagine what it will look like when I used it weekly. I do use retinol throughout the week and you are definitely not supposed to pair them together. So now for example I’ll have to use retinol on Sunday, the baby facial Wednesday and retinol again on Sunday or vice versa. This stuff is the bomb and well worth the $80 price tag. It’s a luxurious facial at home and let’s face it, spa facials cost way more.

2. Kate Sommerville Eradikate

I have been using this product for about 8.5 years when it wasn’t even in stores yet and you could only get it in LA. I remember buying it in the actual Kate Sommerville store in LA about 9 summers ago. I’ve been hooked since. Anytime I get a zit, I put a little Eradikate acne treatment on it overnight and when I wake up it has reduced the inflammation so much. It’s a lifesaver, especially with cystic acne.  The Eradikate mask is also amazing for taming any hormonal flare ups. If you have any type of acne issues you need to try this.

3. IS Clinical Anything

I have fallen in love with my IS Clinical products. I do love Skin Ceuticals but oh my goodness I am obsessed with these products. Plus they’re safe for pregnancy and breast-feeding. So currently I am using their eye cream, hydra cool serum, active serum, pro heal serum, cleansing complex and youth intensive cream. I haven’t tried the shield balm but my friend Jessica raves about it. I had so many compliments on my skin tonight at an event. The only change I have made is switching to these products. My skin is also very well hydrated now. I use the eye cream at night and in the morning and the pro heal serum in the morning and the active serum at night. Also right before I put makeup on (which is rare) I put on the hydra cool serum to give me a good glow. I also use their spf moisturizer. Just call me an IS girl over here. I know some of you are gonna complain about pricing but hear me out. How much will you spend on botox or filler in your future when you’re older? Isn’t it better to be preventive now? Plus good health skin doesn’t have a price tag to me. I love taking care of my skin and looking youthful. If you take care of, it will age beautifully. Feel free to message me privately for questions.

4. Micellar Water

I’ve talked about Micellar water before so I’ll keep this short. It is an amazing product to supplement with after washing your makeup off at night. It gets all of the leftover dirt and grime but it’s gentle on your skin and doesn’t strip it. Bioderma micellar water wipes away makeup extremely easily and your skin doesn’t feel dry nor oily in the least after applied.

5. Trophy Skin Microdermabrasion

How cool is this at home microdermabrasion machine? I have been getting microdermabrasions for about 10 years now off and on and it’s one of the main things that truly helps my face. I have a patch of skin on my cheek that bugs me so bad and if I could only be diligent about my microderms I know I could dramatically reduce it. But who has $150 to drop per treatment? Not me. I’m obsessed with my Trophy Skin Micro machine. It basically pays for itself after 2 treatments. It can fade freckles, reduce acne/acne scarring, diminish crows feet, and gives an overall glow to your face.

6. Rodan & Fields Lash Booster

Let me start by saying no I do not sell Rodan & Fields and no I am not making money off of this. Now onto the matter at hand. I’ve heard from every single person who has tried this that it is freaking amazing. Even better than Latisse (which btw can change the color of your eye, you can’t use while pregnant and basically gave me brown eyeliner) I just started using this so I can’t personally vouch yet, however the numerous amount of women I know who do use it have eyelashes for days now. My friend Lauren didn’t have a stitch of makeup on the other day and I asked her without even knowing “Do you use lash booster?” and um of course she said yes. Her lashes looked phenomenal and she just started a few weeks ago. If you don’t believe me google the before and after photos. I can’t wait to see what mine look like. Click HERE to buy it. (Again I am not selling, I am just a customer who has seen great results but if you are gonna buy it, there’s your girl.)

Ok there are my current MUST HAVES. Yes all the raves are true. Every single one of these products has 4.5-5 star reviews. That’s impressive. I’ve personally tried them all too so if you have any questions or even suggestions please feel free to reach out to me 🙂 I’ll talk skin care all day. Xoxo

Kid Approved Non-Candy Easter Basket Ideas

Easter is one of my favorite holidays with children my home. I love all the bright colors, easter egg hunts and the thrill of the goodies the Easter bunny brings. I love going to church and talking about Jesus to my babies. The one part that bugs me as a parent is how most of what is marketed for Easter basket is sugar and candy. If your kids are anything like mine that makes you cringe. My daughter is a straight up sugar addict and I’ve been drastically trying to cut back for her. I mean she gets it honestly, I struggle daily on my addiction. This year I decided forget the candy filled easter baskets that go to waste. I’m doing something different this year. So I filled it… I mean the Easter bunny filled it with toys and things they need.

First off this year I used Pehr Design’s Pom “easter baskets” because it’s much more functional for regular use plus they are so cute as easter baskets. After we are done with Easter I can use them for storage in their rooms since I got them to match their bedrooms. Diving into Keatyn’s a little bit. Clearly you see I have to include troll blind bags. She has an obsession. Also my kid absolutely loves bath bombs. Seriously a kid after my heart. She must have seen me too many times because she wants a glass of sparkling juice, candles and a bath bomb when she bathes. Hahaha I’m not even kidding y’all. Anyway, I found this AMAZING store on Etsy who makes the most luxurious bath bombs but also they have surprise toys inside! I mean seriously what kid wouldn’t want these?! Plus they’re cheaper than Lush. I’m smitten from here on out. I want adult bath bombs with surprises in them.

I also got her a tool set from Baby Cubby because she always pretends to fix things around the house. She must have her daddy’s engineer brain. They also had these cool functional cups that hang on your fridge. I get so tired of finding cups all over our house.

This owl from Pawd Pets holds our iPad or cell phones for Keatyn with a magnet so she can play with it or watch movies and grip it better. Plus it looks super cute.

Can we talk about how cute this unicorn tumbler is from Twinkle Twinkle Little Jar? There’s a pretty good chance I might steal this from Keatyn. Unicorns and glitter…uh yes.

Here are a few of the things pictured above I got for Charlie:

Ok I’m so excited for the girls to see their Easter baskets, even though Charlie could care less at this point. Minus maybe one candy easter bunny, I think I found some really great candy substitutions. I love supporting all the small shops, so if you’re looking for something out of the box for easter or any holidays, check them out. Hope you guys are having a fabulous week! Xo
