Hey Summer I see you and all the fun stuff you have planned. One of my favorite parts of spring/summer is enjoying my backyard with friends and family and host a great summer cocktail party. The plus side this year is the fact that I finally caved and got patio furniture for my deck. I’ve had the Pier 1 Swingasan chairs for a couple years now and I absolutely love them to sit in and have a glass of wine or cup of coffee but it’s not practical to entertain. As soon as I received my new patio set, I ran to our local Pier 1 to browse their outdoor sale for decor.

Since I don’t have a formal dining area outside, I find it best to host a small summer cocktail party for my outside festivities. The perfect examples are Summer Cocktail Party, girls night, date night, play dates, etc. If I’m hosting large parties I’ll take it inside. Are your in-laws coming over or maybe a couple of your girlfriends for drinks and you don’t have time to do an elaborate set up? I’m gonna share a few quick tips and some items to have on hand to make it Pinterest worthy in a matter of minutes. I’m sharing some items I picked up from Pier 1 that you can either keep tucked away to throw out real quick when entertaining guests or keep out on your dining table for an easy transition to your outdoor setup.

I can’t even begin to tell you how obsessed I am with my new wine glasses. There’s a pretty good chance I will be drinking wine, champagne or just orange juice in the mornings out of my new cactus glass especially. And you can’t have a Summer Cocktail Party outdoors without this tropical food cover. No one wants bug interrupting their evening.

The right touches can completely make the set up. I decided to go with bright colors because at the moment the biggest trends are palms, flamingos, cactus and pineapples etc. I picked some bold and bright colors that I can build on and use for the future. The Melamine dinnerware is perfect for outdoor entertaining because it’s extremely durable. I’m loving all of the fun colors available and they are plates m kids can use without me worrying. Also the Clarity stemware is shatter proof and practically indestructible look so sleek you would never even know they weren’t glass.

If you mix patterns and colors you can create more looks and shake it up for the next party too. I got an assortment of colors: pink, turquoise, green and florals and stripes. That way you can mix and match an assortment of colors without it being overkill. My favorite combos are these striped napkins with these pink napkins along with these gorgeous orchid napkin rings.

Also if you throw some fancy linens from your kitchen down, it’ll jazz it up extremely quick. I’m loving this floral runner and flamingo towel to add some depth to the furniture. You can move them back and forth from indoors and outdoors. The poms and fringe that are available at Pier 1 z   are the top trends right now and I am loving how fun they look with my patio set. These lamps give my outdoor setup more of a bohemian vibe. I keep them out when I’m outside but they’re too precious to keep out day-to-day.

Food: A few quick appetizers to throw together are chips & salsa, pretzels & hummus, veggies, cheese & olives and a meat tray. All of these things can be bought at the grocery store to have on hand for a quick get together. Anything fast is perfect and if you keep your pantry stocked, with these essential items you’ll be completely prepared for unannounced company. I got these cute little flamingo ice cube trays to make it a little more fancy. Just keep them your freezer and you’ll seem like you’re prepared.

I threw all of this together for a get together with my friend and her son in about 10-15 minutes, including food. It turned ut beautifully and I couldn’t be more pleased. I hope you guys enjoy this look and you can find it at Pier 1. Xoxo.
