THE BEST HOMEMADE ACAI BOWL || PERFECT FOR BREAKFAST, SNACK OR EVEN DESSERT

Disclosure: This “The best homemade acai bowl” post is sponsored by Naturally More Peanut Butter for purpose of review but all opinions stated are my own and not influenced in any way.

Ok by now if you you follow me on Instagram you are aware I’m OBSESSED with acai bowls. I always heard people raving about them but I never understood the hype… until I tried one that is, I go to my local juice bar one time a week to get my fix but man can that get expensive. Believe me I know, my husband put it all on an excel sheet, detailing every penny spent. Yep I’m in the doghouse over acai bowls and Chick Fil A. I still remember my first bowl, I scoured the menu so intimidated because I didn’t know what to order. Lucky for me I nailed it the first time. I honestly never even ventured out because I loved it so much. But I thought, there’s gotta be another way. I’ve gotta figure out how to make this. I came across a list of the ingredients (it’s on the board) but I didn’t even know how to find some of them so I basically winged it with my girl Elizabeth. Spoiler alert: It was delicious.

Wanna learn how? I got you, don’t worry.

Ok I couldn’t get Keatyn to stop stealing the Naturally More peanut butter. Naturally More (hence the name) is made from all natural, organic ingredients. I’m confident feeding this to my children and using it on a daily basis for my peanut butter ingredient required recipes. One of my favorite parts of it is the consistency. It is smooth which makes it easy to use in recipes instead of other brands that are too thick to use in preparation. They also have almond and hazelnut butter. In addition to adding probiotics, they add a tad of coconut sugar to replace the cane sugar and molasses, reducing the glycemic index. Plus it is Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Vegan. Makes one serving. You can make more and store in freezer for food prep.

Acai Mixture:

1/2 Banana

1/2 cup frozen strawberries

1 Pack Frozen Acai (I found some at Trader Joes for cheap)

1 cup Apple Juice (for sweet) OR almond milk (for creamy)

Toppings:

1/2 Banana cut up

1-2 Tbsp Cacao Nibs

1/4 cup of Granola

1 Tbsp Honey

1-2 Tbsp Peanut or Almond Butter

Take all acai mixture ingredients and put in a blender. (banana, strawberries, liquid and acai) Blend on light to medium speed until creamy. Make sure the mixture is a smooth consistency, not runny and not thick. If more than one serving is prepared for food prep, put in freezer safe containers and freeze.

Put mixture in bowl and start adding toppings. Top with granola, cacao nibs, sliced banana. Drizzle with honey and Naturally More Peanut Butter.  Enjoy!

See how easy that is. Especially if you make more than one serving and can freeze portions for later. I recommend making a big batch each time. Make sure you save the toppings for when you’re ready to enjoy. This seems like such an indulgence but it really is healthy too. Let me know if you guys make it! Xoxo.
