HEALTHY EATING: SEARED TUNA STEAKS AND CHARRED ROMAINE

It’s Monday. I’m sure if you’re anything like me you blew any and every bit of a cheat meal this past weekend. I fully intend on using this week to redeem myself. (Who am I kidding I just had tacos with chips & guacamole)

Ok I’ll start tomorrow. However, I thought I would share a super easy and healthy meal with you guys to get your week started on the right track. Hope you like fish…here we go.

Seared Tuna:

2-4 Tuna Steaks

Black Sesame Seeds

Toasted Sesame Seeds

Cajun Seasoning

Ginger Seasoning

Black Pepper

Sesame Oil

Siracha for garnish/decor or dipping

Scallions

Make a rub with sesame seeds, cajun seasoning and ginger seasoning. Coat raw tuna steaks with sesame oil then press into dry rub. Sear on medium heat on each side to your liking. (1 1/2 minutes per side for rare) Cut into slices and arrange on serving tray.

Diffuse siracha on platter as sort of a design then top tuna with scallions.

Charred Romaine Lettuce:

4-6 Romaine Lettuce Hearts

Balsamic Vinegar

Olive Oil

Salt & Pepper

Rinse then cut hearts in half-length wise. Spread out on baking pan. Mix equal parts of balsamic vinegar and olive oil in a small bowl. Brush mixture on romaine hearts and then generously coat with salt and pepper to your liking. Broil on LOW till outside of hearts char. You can also grill them.

I know what you’re thinking….charred lettuce? Whaaaaat…I promise you’ll thank me. Honest, it is so good.

The best part: Healthy. My mother in law and I made this for my friends the other night and they immediately asked for the recipe. Feel free to share with anyone you think might like this scrumptious delight.
